The Metal Frame
To ensure your pod is super strong and safe to use, we weave around a bespoke, steel frame, which we have made by a metal fabrication team here in Bristol.
The slightest tweak in the curve of the frame can totally change the overall look and feel of the pod, so we work closely to make sure that this stage is accurately executed.
Luckily we work with a lovely bunch of metalworkers who are highly skilled and extremely precise. They take the time to really study our designs and understand exactly what our vision is. We are eternally grateful for this!
The Willow
Our willow is supplied by Musgrove Willows, a family run business located at a farm on the Somerset Levels. Using traditional methods, they grow over 60 different varieties of sustainable and environmentally friendly products. They are a lovely team of people who we have been working with for over 5 years.
“Willow is a renewable and sustainable crop, annually harvested from a stump in withy beds. It’s the ultimate green product, absorbing carbon from the atmosphere as it grows. Everyone at Musgrove Willows is committed to producing one of the most environmentally-friendly products.”

The Fixings
We have a close relationship with this company, and they're only a stone's throw away from the Pearpod studio. It feels like a grotto when entering their warehouse.. Filled with all sorts of chains, twine and fastenings in any size you could possibly need.
The steel used to produce the shackles and chains is made in the UK and load rated to ensure safety and strength. They pride themselves in offering high quality products and services with over 50 years of experience in the industry. Bristol Rope and Twine are a trusted name in Bristol and we feel confident choosing the fixings for our pods from here.
The Colourful Bits
All the bright colours that you see woven in to the pods are made from repurposed and reclaimed materials. These can be offcuts from factories, unwanted reels of cord or rope, old netting that’s no longer used..
We mainly source these from Bristol Scrapstore, a 20 minute walk from the studio. Their warehouse is full of an ever-changing, eclectic mix of bright and colourful materials, that may otherwise end up in landfill.
This also means that once a colour is gone, it’s really gone! Depending on how much we can source of each material, it may supply anywhere from 1 -15 pods, but very rarely any more than that. And when that material has been used up, we often can’t find it again, so your pod will be truly unique. For this reason, we are often updating our website with new colours, so check back in regularly to find the perfect colour for your home!
Due to the finite nature of waste materials, your pod will always be part of a limited edition.
The Cushions
Our cushions are cut to size and upholstered specifically for our pods by the lovely team at Foamcut2size. They are a 5 minute walk from the Pearpod workshop and finish each cushion to a high standard, always happy to try new shapes and work with our requests.
All our cushions are made using medium-high density foam with 100% cotton zip-off, washable covers.
The fabric is supplied by Country Threads, based in Bath, only 30 mins from Bristol. We use a fabric line from Makower who have an extensive range of beautiful coloured cottons.
